Parent Education Series
The Olympia Education Foundation is proud to present:

The school year can be an exciting time filled with great moments. it can also come with sleep problems, procrastination, anger and lots of other symptoms of stress and anxiety. Come join us for a conversation about what’s going on–from the brain changes in middle school to the best approaches to take with students in high school. Tweens & teens are welcome to join us so the whole family can learn about the tools to use all year long.

After School Tutoring Now Available
After school tutoring/homework help is available every Wednesday from 2:40 to 3:25 in the library. Our paraeducators provide support in all subject areas!
Health Room Reminders
Now that cold, flu, and COVID season are in full swing, we wanted to remind everyone what the current guidelines are for students and staff.
- COVID: Stay home 5 days from the onset of symptoms. Onset day is day zero. If you do not have symptoms then stay home 5 days from the positive test date. You need to be fever free for 24 hours and your symptoms should be improving. You can return to work/school on day 6 but should wear a mask on days 6-10.
- Flu and all other illnesses: you need to be fever, vomit and diarrhea free for 24 hours without the use of medication.

CHS Library News
The CHS Book Club is sponsoring a book drive for the South Sound Reading Foundation. The SSRF attends community events around the sound, promoting the love of reading by giving away books to kids/teens. If you've been meaning to get those books for children and young adults, from pre-K to teen, to the next book lover, your opportunity is here. Donations can be brought to the CHS Library through November.
Battle of the Books sign-ups have begun. Students need to send their team captain to the library to sign-up. While students usually create their own teams of 2-4 players, individual students who would like to be placed in a team should talk to Mrs. Bonds. Battles will not begin until late February or early March. We also have a Thurston County battle, which will take place April 22nd. For more information, email [email protected] or have your kiddo stop by the library.
CCRC News
College Deadlines: Some colleges have already closed their admissions applications as deadlines are starting to become due. Make sure you have applied to the colleges that you want to attend, before their deadlines occur. If you are using Common App, remember to complete each part of the college information in the college portion of the Common App. Don't forget to add colleges to Naviance and Match your Common App to Naviance. If you are having trouble feel free to come to the CCRC and get help, asap.
Scholarships are also starting to come in and due dates are approaching quickly.
FAFSA/WASFA Night
- SAVE THE DATE January 25th 2024 for Financial Aid Completion Night. It will be from 6-8pm in the library.

Alternative Lunch Space
Capital High School has opened an alternative space during lunches for students who are seeking a quiet space to enjoy their lunch period. The “Alternative Space” will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays, during both lunches, and located in E-1 next to the student store.
CHS Theatre News
MUSICAL THEATRE DANCE WORKSHOPS
Every Wednesday from 2:45 - 3:30 we'll have dance workshops in the Aux Gym/Dance Studio for any student interested. Whether you've had experience or not, you are welcome to join us. Each week you will learn about a different musical and dance a choreographed number from that show.
DRAMAFEST
Cougar Theatre proudly presents Dramafest! Come see 5 student-written and directed one-acts, ranging from musicals to the absurd, including social commentary and murder. Some content might not be suitable for younger audiences. The show runs for one weekend: November 16, 17,and 18 at 7 p.m. at Capital High School’s new Performing Arts Center: 2707 Conger Ave NW, Olympia.
