Staff and Student Yoga

CHS Homecoming Information 

  • Homecoming tickets are on sale NOW!
  • Tickets are sold individually:
    • $20 with ASB
    • $25 without ASB
  • Last day to purchase is October 11th, 4pm
  • The ASB/Athletics Office is closed 10/12 due to training and there is no school 10/13.
  • If you are taking a guest to homecoming, please make sure and submit a completed Dance Form to the ASB/Athletic Office.
  • We are looking for volunteers to help chaperone the dance. Please email [email protected]. It's a really fun time and a great way to get involved in our school community! If your student will be attending the dance please find below all the information you need to know:

Attendance Information

  • If you wish to have your student released from class early, Please call the attendance line at 360-596-8019 and leave a message at a minimum of 2 hours prior to the time you wish for your student to be dismissed.

  • All absences should be reported to attendance at 360-596-8019 within 48 hours.

 

PSAT - October 14th 

Only two days left to sign up for the PSAT! The last day to sign up for the PSAT is Tuesday 10/10. Sign up at the ASB office. $30 for most students. The PSAT at Capital is Saturday 10/14 from 9:50 AM to 1:00 PM.

  • Digital PSAT 2023 at Capital
  • The test will take place Saturday, October 14th in the Commons!
  • Register at the ASB office. $30 for most students.
  • Limited space, so register today!
    • Registration open to Juniors only 9/25-10/2
    • Registration open 9th-11th grade beginning 10/2
  • Be prepared to conduct a Digital Readiness check on your Chromebook PRIOR to testing day. 
  • You must test on district-issued Chromebook in the Blue Book App (found on login screen)
  • You can even try out some practice questions in the Blue Book app before test day.
  • Testing check-in starts at 9:50 AM and testing should conclude by 1 PM on Oct 14th.

 

CHS Little Cougar Boys Basketball

Little Cougar basketball is a recreational basketball league for West Olympia area boys in grades 3-6.  The emphasis is on sportsmanship, having fun, and allowing all to participate.  Our goal is to give our future CHS Cougars a chance to learn basketball fundamentals and develop skills through practice and games.  Every boy will receive a Little Cougar reversible jersey, a basketball, instruction at weekly practices, and lots of encouragement. Registration is Saturday, October 21st and Saturday, October 28th from 9 to Noon in the Capital High School main entrance lobby. Registrations can also be turned in (during school hours 8:30 a.m.-3:45 p.m.) at the Capital ASB Office.  If you have any questions, please contact Brian Vandiver at [email protected].

 

Capital High School Parent Organization

Attention Parents!

  • The Capital High School Parent Organization needs your help. CHSPO is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the students and staff at CHS. Major projects include the Grad Night event, Holiday Giving Tree, staff appreciation and more. All parents and voices are welcome. There are many opportunities to volunteer.
  • CHSPO is also a great communication channel between Capital parents and school administrators.

SENIOR SIGN PRE ORDERS NOW OPEN

  • Senior signs are a great way to support students, school spirit, and the Grad Night 2024 event sponsored by the Capital High School Parent Organization. Basic signs will sell for $35 and individualized signs with photos sell for $40. Please note, grandparents, aunts, uncles and family friends are welcome to purchase signs as well. Proceeds support the Grad Night 2024 event, a safe celebration for graduating seniors.

SAVE THE DATE: OCT. 18 MOD PIZZA FUNDRAISER

  • CHSPO is proud to partner with MOD Pizza for a fundraiser on Wed., Oct. 18, all day. MOD will donate 25 percent of fundraiser sales during this event. If you order online, be sure to use the code MODGIVES25. Learn more.

 

CHS Blood Drive

  • The CHS Fall Blood Drive is October 11th from 8AM-3PM. Sign up in the ASB Office. If this is your first time to donate you must be at least 16 and have filled out the parent/guardian permission form (under 18 years of age). Return this permission form to ASB.
  • Don't forget to eat and hydrate before donating. Photo ID is required. Questions regarding eligibility.

 

Senior Night for Athletes

  • Senior Night for all teams involved with football (cheer, dance, etc,) is the evening before the game on October 13th.  The gates open at 6:00 p.m.

Prom/Homecoming Outfit Donations

  • We are collecting homecoming and prom outfit donations.  Collections will be held until October 2nd for homecoming.  Please bring any donations to the Counseling Center.

 

Girls Bowling Team Information

  • Have fun!
  • Meet nice people!
  • Learn a lifelong skill!
  • The Girls' Bowling Team is a Winter Sport that will allow you the opportunity to earn a Varsity Letter and a PE waiver!
  • We have a ton of serious fun mastering the sport of bowling while hanging out with friends.
  • Our pre-season meeting will be Thursday, October 26, at 3:30 in Room A-12.
  • The season runs from November through January. Come check it out!

CHS Student Parking Pass

  • All students attending CHS will need to have a parking pass on their car.  This is a safety issue and we will be enforcing parking passes starting October 2.
  • If you have purchased an ASB Card the parking pass is free.
  • Students without an ASB Card the parking pass is $5.
  • Stop by the ASB/Athletic Office to pick up an application while parking passes are still available and avoid getting a fine.

Seniors who have not met with their school counselor for a one-on-one appointment for all things graduation and post high school planning must do so immediately.   Encourage your senior to read their email or at least make an appointment with their counselor on our site:  https://capital.osd.wednet.edu/counseling

School Social Worker

Kim Senger is the Olympia School District Social Worker assigned to Capital High School.  She can provide students and families with community and school based connections such as mental health referrals and resource navigation.  Kim works in collaboration with our school counselors, administration, families/caregivers and community organizations to remove barriers and create equitable opportunities for student success.  If  families.caregivers or students have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call her or your students counselor.

Sea Mar Community Health Center

In an effort to support student wellbeing and mental health, Olympia School District has a partnership with Sea Mar Community Health Centers to provide mental health services.  A Mental Health Therapist with Sea Mar will be onsite at Capital High School to provide ongoing therapy to students who are enrolled in their services.   Sea Mar is able to accept clients who have Washington Apple Health plans.  If you or your student is interested in hearing more about this service, please direct questions to your school counselor or Kim Senger, School Social Worker, at 360-239-7413 or [email protected].

 

Alternative Lunch Space

Starting September 12th - Capitol High School will be opening an alternative space during lunches for students who are seeking a quiet space to enjoy their lunch period. The “Alternative Space” will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays, during both lunches, and located in E-1 next to the student store.
