You can find all that and much more here at our Resources for Youth and Families webpage.Whether you're a family that's brand new to the Olympia School District, or just wondering where to go to find answers to specific questions you've never known how to answer, here is a great place to start!

CHS Literary Magazine

Students at Capital High School are working with faculty advisors to create and publish a literary magazine this spring. The magazine will include student fiction, non-fiction, drama, art, and poetry. We are certain this will be a powerful forum for student voice!

While we will raise funds by selling some copies of the magazine to parents and community members, we are also depending on donations to fund our project. We plan to feature donors' names in the publication. Would you be able to donate at any level? Every twenty dollars funds one copy for a student. You can click the donation link here to contribute. All contributors will receive thanks on the Donors page. If there is a particular business name you want to be featured, send me an email so I can associate your donation with the business name.

You can also pre-order copies of the magazine using the same link above ($20 per copy).

Thank you for your support,  Liz House, Literary Magazine Advisor [email protected]

Cougar Craft Fair and Car Show Delivers Record Attendance Community Pride

The April 20 craft fair and car show was an enormous success, and likely the biggest CHS community event since the pandemic.

CHSPO shares a big shout out to 45 craft show vendors, 100 car show registrants and 1,000 visitors who convened on the CHS campus for a beautiful spring Saturday.

The FTC Robotics team amazed us with hands-on demonstrations, while SWDA's EDGE team showed and taught the crowd how hip hop, Olympia style, is done. Future CHS Principal Condee Wood and her family also attended.

Thank you to truck vendors Voyager's Espresso, Sweetlee's Ice Cream, La Esquinita Taco Truck, and All Around Towne Photos for their fantastic event support.

We appreciate Community K9 Bentley, OPD's patrol car and OFD's 62 foot ladder truck teams for sharing the day with us, along with the stunning array of show vehicles who came as far as 1.5 hours away.

We are also incredibly grateful to the long list of Olympia advisors and businesses who generously contributed towards our inaugural Cougar Car Show, now billed as the "Spring Opener of 2024!" Our dedicated student, teacher, staff, and parent volunteer team worked tirelessly from idea and planning for a job well done--many thanks to each of you for all your efforts.

What a special day to gather our CHS family, Olympia and Greater Puget Sound community together to support our CHS students and teachers...one to be remembered for a long time.

The Olympia School District is bringing local Native author Christine Day to CHS for three presentations on May 7th.  One way for your student to secure a seat for Day's school visit with secondary students is to let their artistic side shine in the bookmark creation contest.  Students should visit the library for an entry sheet with the rules.  Bookmark entries are due very soon, by March 28th, to be voted on and produced in bulk by May 7th.

There will also be a free community event from 6:30 - 8:00 in our PAC that evening for all ages to attend.
