PROGRAM OVERVIEW

  • High school students are trained to mentor 5th grade students and support 5th grade teachers with instruction during Outdoor School at Camp Cispus.

  • Cispus MapStudent counselors can earn 60 service hours for completing all training and attending an Outdoor School session.

HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELOR REQUIREMENTS

  • Fill in the online ---> Counselor Candidate Form <---
  • Eligibility: High school counselor candidates must be either a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in good academic standing that can commit to all training dates and attend one of the Outdoor School Sessions at Camp Cispus.
  • Attendance: Being on time to class and perfect attendance is expected as critical training material will be covered in each training session. Counselor candidates must make arrangements to make-up missed training with the high school counselor coordinator.
    1. Attend 8 Classroom Training Sessions (Room F1, 8:00-8:45 Monday's in March, April, and May)
    2. Attend First Aid Training, if student counselor does not have current CPR/First Aid Card (training offered at the Olympia School District Office)
    3. Attend complete Outdoor School Session at Camp Cispus
  • Satisfactory Counselor Evaluation Form:

  • Student Leader Application, handed out in Room F1
    • Parent /Guardian Information and Permission
    • Health Form
    • Medication Form (For those who need it)
    • Administrative Permission
    • Cover Letter

    • Thank you letter or card for Olympia Education Foundation, https://www.olyedfoundation.org/.
      • Outdoor School at Cispus for OSD is possible in 2023 because of the support of the Olympia Education Foundation.
